After attending the Alberta College of Art, I moved to Madre Grande, a spiritual center in California where I studied meditation. I had been studying and painting art for a number of years, and this experience gave me the desire to pursue a career in fine art. This led to the opening of a studio outside of Waterton Lakes where I now live. Much of my inspiration and energy to create comes from the land, the processes and cycles that occur in the incredibly raw and powerful earth. My artwork is about expression, this includes a wealth of colour, texture and patterns as well as certain images such as: faces, masks, bodies and trees. Through this process I am attaining more clarity about who I am and what I can offer people through my work.

For a number of years I have been involved in the teaching of art education in the schools and at the university level. During this period, I have worked with a variety of media, ranging from watercolour to printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. However, I have always been interested in the processes of making jewelry as an art form. Consequently, after attending numerous workshops and taking courses in jewelry making at the Oregon School of Arts and Crafts in Portland, I began to focus on this area, specifically casting and metal enameling. What this exhibit contains is a compilation of my work in this field over the past six to eight years, as well as pieces I have recently completed.

Through meditation this artist seeks to transform anxieties and cares of the concrete world and translate spiritual experiences into images. The author, Abd-ru-shin, refereed to humankind in this book “In the Light of Truth,” as like a lens that collects the flow of life itself and passes it on in concentrated form. This artist intuitively and consciously seeks aesthetic forms that will optimally convey spiritual content and emotions.
