Living Spaces
Living Spaces: 21 Contemporary Canadian Homes
A travelling exhibition curated by Cambridge Galleries in Ontario explores significant work of architects and designers and the contemporary Canadian homes that they’ve built across the country. Residences are identified by the five distinct regions of Canada that they are situated in and each conveys a unique response to their surrounding environment and demanding site conditions.
The show recognizes the design process by featuring drawings and models as well as photography of the final product. The exhibition celebrates and acknowledges the work of the following architects; Patkau Architects, Helliwell Smith Blue Sky Architecture, Peter Cardew Architects, Sturgess ArchitectureW.D Fisher Architect, Battersby Howatt, Marc Boutin Architecture, David Penner Architect, Drew Mandel, Martin Liefhebber Architect, Affleck + de la Riva Architects and many others.
This exhibition is curated by John Ota (Ontario and West Coast), Christine Macy (Atlantic), Marco Polo(Prairies), and David Theodore (Quebec). Houses in the Atlantic Region were photographed by Steven Evans and Jamie Steeves, and videos were created by Ariella Pahlke.
This show was put on in cooperation with the SAAG and the U of L Department of Fine Arts.
