Sentiment & Sensibility
Sentiment and Sensibility
Turn-of-the-century art featuring the gracious portraiture and landscapes of British painter, Ambrose McEvoy
A project of the Museum Studies and Curatorial Internship Courses of the Division of Art, School of Fine Art. University of Lethbridge: coordinated by students of this program: Ryan Doherty, Jamie Flower, Cindy Swensen.
As the current century draws to a close, it must be conceded that historical accounts of the important artistic events of the 20th Century customarily settle to lionize the perceived most radical manifestations of modernism, in Canada; the legacy of the Group of Seven, and worldwide: Cubism, Futurism, Surrealism. Abstract Expressionism and so forth. Sentiment and Sensibility gathers works by a number of turn of the century artists who would have considered their intentions and productions to genuinely reflect a true progressive, modern attitude.
