My current body of work represents an extension along a path that has been continuous regarding the majority of my work over the past several years. While I am planning to explore similar aesthetic approaches to earlier ones I have used, I see the work and the ‘theory’ becoming more refined as I proceed. I have come to the current point in my work through an initial desire to deny digital production and to return to the act of hand-making objects: prints. By way of influences, I see myself moving between the study of modern and contemporary graphic design, and an investigation of pop-culture imagery influenced by Modernist aesthetics. Russian Constructivist artists such as Alexander Rodchenko, and El Lizzitsky, modern designers from the mid-twentieth century such as Alvin Lustig and Erik Nitsche, and a contemporary studio, like JPL Studios, which is affiliated with California institute of Techonology(Caltech), with their series of posters “Visions of the Future,” among others, will be the focus of my research.
