Siew Mak
Mr. Siew L. Mak., originally from Hong Kong, settled in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada in 1971. He has been living in Medicine Hat since 1976.
Fine arts, as well as martial arts, are almost inseparable from Siew’s life. However he chose to be a professional engineer in the field of civil engineering. Currently he is the Environmental Utilities Department Engineer for the City of Medicine Hat.
Although he loved to paint since his early years, Mak began taking it seriously in the late nineteen-fifties. He gives credit to his mentor, the late Mr. Chat-Yuen Ho, a prominent master in Southern China and Hong Kong.
Siew’s paintings are lyrical yet realistic, with exquisite compositions. Being proficient in both western and oriental skills, he is combining them to express his thoughts.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Lethbridge Symphony.
