Cowboy Comedy

Max Metal

Born in 1950, Raph Svatos adoped the name Max Metal in the 1980’s when he began to make art from found objects. Since then his work has gained great interest in his community and in art galleries across the provinces. Embracing the principles of recycling, Max manipulates scrap metal and found objects into amazing arrays of three dimensional art forms.

Through the collaboration with painter colleagues, Max’s recent sculptures are characterized by rich colours.

Max makes his home on Hornby Island off the coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
